I must say that this is truly amazing. Not even five weeks ago, I was resigned to us miserably failing to reach our goal and mired in disappointment in the willingness of our entire Women’s Hospital staff to address an issue which we have made clear is impacting residents of color, patients of color and reflecting poorly on our overall culture. To think that in this short time– through the direct efforts of Aiisya and Tanjia, ostensibly buttressed by Susan and Susanne– we are now positioned to EXCEED our goal in January is mind boggling. You all are phenomenal.

Dr. Coleman’s presentation was amazing.  She shared very helpful information that our mentees and I found very useful.  I really like that she placed us in breakout sessions to be able to work through different scenarios.  This gave us an opportunity to see and learn about different styles of communication firsthand.

The workshop, Essentials for Engineering Your Future was an overall awesome event.  Dr Coleman expertly guided the group through key elements of effective communication, highlighting how it truly is the cornerstone to success.  Her engaging insightful approach made complex concepts easy to grasp and apply.  For example, enter the conversation with positive thoughts, it helps propel the conversation forward! Remember to listen, it builds trust! And lastly, communicate clearly and confidently, this will increase your chances of being heard. I would highly encourage anyone looking to enhance their communication skills, as well as any organization aiming to foster stronger communication amongst their members, to attend this workshop.  It’s a game-changer for both personal and professional growth. 

I have had the pleasure of working with Tanjia for several years at DeVry University. She was by far one of the best HR business partners I have had throughout my time with the organization. Tanjia taught me a lot throughout our time together. She taught me how to effectively manage and juggle the development of colleagues while creating a high performance culture. Tanjia also spent time mentoring me outside of work. The mentoring relationship provided guidance on how to develop and promote my brand as a female leader. I learned how to best communicate at the executive level and developed a strong passion for helping others, especially women, in building their brands and growing their careers due to the time spent with Tanjia. To this day, she continues to inspire others in her important work around leadership and talent development, myself included.
